Nintendo to transform Times Square
Nintendo will transform New York’s Times Square into a beach resort to promote upcoming fitness title Wii Sports Resort.
The publicity stunt will include a sandy beach, swimming pools and a tropical lounge serving non-alcoholic drinks. Visitors will also have the chance to preview the game ahead of its release later this month.
Wii Sports Resort is the follow-up to the home console’s launch title Wii Sports. The game is designed to showcase the capabilities of the recently released Wii MotionPlus peripheral, featuring archery, kendo, table tennis and basketball.
Nintendo will preview the game at the Times Square event on July 23.
Wii Sports Resort launches on July 24 in Europe and PAL territories, before arriving in North America on July 26.
